RFP checklist for corporate telecom procurement
5 min read
A telecom RFP that doesn’t specify usage precisely will come back with proposals that are impossible to compare apples-to-apples. Before sending an RFP, confirm you’ve included the following.
Usage requirements
Total lines by location, average national and international minutes per line, average data per line, and any lines with unusual requirements (heavy roaming, IoT/M2M, fixed-line bundling).
Commercial terms
Contract length, discount structure and expiry, early termination terms, and SLA commitments for provisioning and support response times.
Evaluation criteria
Decide in advance how you’ll weigh price against coverage, support quality, and contract flexibility — scoring proposals against fixed criteria avoids the RFP turning into a pure price war that ignores service quality.
