What we collect when you use opexgenie.com, why we collect it, where it goes, and the rights you have over it under UAE law.
Last updated 9 October 2026
OpexGenie is headquartered in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and is the controller of the personal data described here. This policy covers the public website at opexgenie.com. The OpexGenie platform at app.opexgenie.com is provided under a separate customer agreement, which governs the data our customers process in it.
We handle personal data in line with UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on the Protection of Personal Data (the PDPL). Where we deal with organisations elsewhere in the GCC, we also follow the data protection law that applies there, including the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Personal Data Protection Law.
What we collect
We collect only what you give us through the forms on this site:
- Contact details. Your name, business email address, phone number, company name, and the country or emirate you operate in.
- Company and usage details. Industry, number of employees, number of corporate mobile connections, your operator (du, e& or both), monthly spend, and the per-line cost, minutes and data you enter into the Telecom Score.
- Invoices you upload. Telecom invoices sent for a free audit. These usually contain personal data about your employees, such as names, mobile numbers and call or data usage, and may show your trade licence or account numbers.
- Technical records. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, including IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to keep the site secure and available.
We ask for a business email address and do not accept personal mailboxes, because OpexGenie is sold to companies rather than individuals. The site is not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Why we use it
- To calculate your Telecom Score and send you the benchmark report you asked for.
- To confirm that the business email address you give us is yours, by emailing it a one-time code before the Telecom Score report is released.
- To audit the invoices you upload and report billing observations, possible savings and contract mismatches.
- To answer an assessment request or send the UAE Telecom Starter Guide.
- To follow up on your enquiry by email or phone, and to tell you about OpexGenie services relevant to it.
- To protect the site against spam, abuse and repeated automated submissions.
- To meet legal, tax and record-keeping obligations in the UAE.
We rely on the consent you give when you submit a form, and on the grounds the PDPL allows without consent, such as taking steps you have asked for before entering a contract and complying with the law. We do not sell personal data, and we do not use it to make decisions about you by automated means alone. The Telecom Score is a pricing estimate about a mobile plan, not an assessment of a person.
Employee data in your invoices
When you upload an invoice, you remain responsible for the personal data of the employees named in it, and we process it on your instructions to carry out the audit. Please upload only invoices your organisation is entitled to share, and tell us if you would like particular lines or numbers left out of the analysis.
Who we share it with
We share personal data only with:
- Service providers that host the site and our systems and deliver our email, under contracts that require them to protect the data and use it only for us.
- Professional advisers and authorities, where UAE law or a competent court or regulator requires it.
- A successor business, if OpexGenie is reorganised or sold, in which case this policy continues to apply to data already collected.
We do not pass your details or your invoices to du, e& or any other operator. If we help you dispute a charge or negotiate a plan, we contact the operator only with your written agreement.
Where it is stored
Our website and systems are hosted with Amazon Web Services, in data centres located in the United States. Submitting a form therefore transfers your data outside the UAE. We make these transfers on the bases the PDPL permits, including your consent and contractual safeguards with our providers, and we apply the same protection to the data wherever it is held.
Data is encrypted in transit between your browser and our systems, and access to it is limited to staff who need it for the purposes above.
How long we keep it
We keep personal data for as long as we need it for the purposes above or as UAE law requires for business records, and then delete or anonymise it. You can ask us to delete your enquiry or your uploaded invoices sooner, and we will do so unless the law requires us to keep them.
Cookies
This site does not use advertising or analytics cookies and does not track you across other websites. If that changes, we will update this policy and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
Your rights
Under the PDPL you can ask us to:
- confirm what personal data we hold about you and give you a copy;
- correct data that is inaccurate or out of date;
- erase your data, or restrict or stop our use of it;
- transfer your data to you or another provider in a usable format;
- stop using your data for direct marketing;
- withdraw a consent you have given, without affecting what we did before you withdrew it.
To use any of these rights, write to hello@opexgenie.com. To stop marketing emails, use the unsubscribe link in any message or write to unsubscribe@opexgenie.com. We do not charge for a request and will answer within the period the law sets.
If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the UAE Data Office, or to the data protection authority of the GCC country you are based in.
Changes to this policy
We will post any change on this page and update the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use data we already hold, we will tell you by email.
